Same Day Porcelain Restorations

Advanced technology in our in-house dental lab

Have you ever had this thought:  “Another Dental Visit?”  We know you have better things to do with your time, so Downtown Dental works to provide many restorations in one visit, so our patients can get back to what matters most.

The team at Downtown Dental is committed to providing all of our patients with exceptional dentistry. A big part of that commitment is staying on top of the latest in technology to offer you truly state-of-the-art care. That’s why we are proud to offer our patients the convenience of an in-house dental lab equipped with everything necessary to provide comfortable, quality dental care.

Need a porcelain restoration such as a crown (cap) or onlay? Let us help make the process as easy and pain free as possible!  Traditional dental crowns and other porcelain restorations require multiple appointments to the dentist’s office, with weeks spent waiting in between. This method also requires the use of a temporary crown, a device that may be highly noticeable against the rest of the teeth and/or prone to breaking. But in most cases with Downtown Dental’s same day restorations, there’s no need for a temporary!  With intraoral scanning and CAD/CAM (computer aided design, computer aided manufacture) technology we can prep, produce, and place your porcelain restoration in just one visit!

You can also forget about those uncomfortable traditional dental impressions. Many people with sensitive gag reflexes find this method of modeling your teeth intolerable. With the Planscan intraoral scanner, we can take a digital impression of your teeth and the surrounding oral structures — often eliminating the need for messy, uncomfortable impressions. Digital impressions are a faster, far more comfortable alternative to what you may be accustomed to in the past. This technology is not only easier for the patient — it also provides us with a more accuracy and flexibility in the design of your restoration. Digital impressions are ultra-precise, improving treatment planning for a more successful outcomes and a dental crown that fits better from day one.

The benefits of the digital workflow made possible with the Planscan system for restorative dentistry, intraoral scanner and milling device (word other than device?) are significant. Some of these advantages include:

  • Faster turnaround for your restoration with reduced total in office time and waiting time
  • No ‘temporaries’ to deal with for weeks while you wait for your crown to be fabricated
  • More doctor control over the specific shape, fit, and aesthetics of the restoration
  • Less injections and less post-op discomfort due to temporaries and/or increased need for tissue management due to multiple appointments
  • Increased patient comfort
