It's that time of year again! Screen-Shot-2014-10-28-at-9.07.57-AM.png For the fifth year in a row, we are teaming to support The Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and help fight hunger. Screen Shot 2014-10-28 at 9.08.41 AM The need for donations is real! Did you know that 1 in 6 Tennesseeans struggle with hunger and at least 25% of children in Tennessee are food insecure? But working together we can make a real difference. Last year alone we collected over 1000 non-perishable food items that helped feed many of your neighbors here in middle Tennessee. We were, quite literally, TRIPPING over your GENEROUS donations for weeks! Trippin In exchange for helping us feed the hungry we are offering FREE CUSTOM FIT BLEACHING TRAYS! Just bring in 30 non-perishable food items during the month of November and we will schedule you for an appointment to have your custom fit trays fabricated. If you already have the trays, bring in 15 items and we will restock your bleach. To provide optimal bleaching results and ensure that prescription bleaching methods are a safe and effective option for you, an exam and recent cleaning are required. Give us a call for further details. Please pass the word along to your friends, family, and coworkers! We look forward to seeing you soon!
Last week we launched our 2nd Annual Food Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. The donations have already started to pour in….

 Give a little. Receive a little…

While they say it’s better to give than to receive, we wanted to find a way to help you do both…. Because we’re so inspired by the generosity of our patients and other downtown residents and employees, we want to celebrate when you give. We are once again going to be offering FREE custom teeth whitening* for anyone that bring 15 non-perishable food products.  If you already have your teeth whitening kit, you can bring in 10 non-perishable food items for a complimentary tube of our prescription-strength whitening bleach (22% hydrogen peroxide strength).

2 easy steps to whiten your smile while giving back this Holiday

If you want to take advantage of our offer, all you need to do is: 1)     Bring in food items during the month of November. 2)     Schedule an appointment to have custom fit trays made if you donate 15 items and want to receive a free teeth-whitening kit. We hope you’ll join us in helping to make other Middle Tennesseans smile this Holiday season. As we continue to help our patients stay healthy from head to toe, we look forward to partnering with you as we pass that opportunity onto the hundreds of thousands of other Middle Tennesseans who might not have that opportunity otherwise. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office at 615-254-1393!
*Note: In order to assure there are no contraindications to the procedure, patients must have had a recent cleaning and exam before Downtown Dental can fabricate custom bleaching trays and prescribe prescription strength bleach.
Downtown Dental Banner AdOne of things we love most at Downtown Dental is joining our patients and other downtown residents and employees to give back to our community. Last year, we teamed up with Barbieri Orthodontics to support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and help fight the battle of hunger in Tennessee. We were blown away by the way you responded! Downtown Nashville residents and employees donated more than 1,000 items and our office was overflowing with donations. Because of your overwhelming generosity, we believe that together we can make even more of an impact this year! Because we’re so inspired by the generosity of our patients and other downtown residents and employees, we want to celebrate by giving away a FREE custom teeth whitening kit. Patients who donate 15 food items will receive a custom teeth-whitening kit, including bleaching trays. If you already have a custom teeth whitening, you can donate 10 food items and receive a free tube of prescription-strength whitening bleach.

The Need is Still Overwhelming

While Second Harvest has done incredible things to provide food to those in need in our community, the need is still greater today than ever before…
  • There are over 395,000 people in Middle Tennessee who don’t know where their next meal is coming from
  • 1 in 6 Tennesseans struggle with hunger
  • 1 in 4 children in Tennessee are at risk of suffering from hunger
  • 30% of people that receive food from Second Harvest have to choose between food and paying their rent, utilities, or medical bills on a regular basis.

How we can come together to help

Downtown Dental will be collecting food for Second Harvest during the entire month of November (you can see a list of their most need items here). We’re collecting donations whenever our doors are open so you can stop by before work, during your lunch break, or before you head home! Here are a few easy ways you can join the fight against hunger in Middle Tennessee:
  • Grab 10 cans of food from your pantry and bring them with you to work tomorrow.
  • Look for sales in the weekly newspaper on nonperishable food items. Who doesn’t like getting the most bang for their buck?
  • Buy a box of pasta noodles and bring them to your next dental appointment.
  • Pick out your favorite cereal and purchase it for that family in need.

What next?

It’s simple: 1.  Bring food items to Downtown Dental during the month of November. 2. Schedule an appointment to have custom fit trays made if you donate 15 items and want to receive a brighter smile for the holidays.
*Note: A recent exam and cleaning is required for safety precautions and to assure there are no contraindications to the procedure.
We realize there are dozens of worthy organizations that you can support during the Holiday season so feel free to bring as many items as you’d like. Every bit makes a difference in the life of someone in our community. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office at 615-254-1393.
Earlier this month, we announced that our staff at Downtown Dental is committed to running the Music City Half Marathon as a way to commit to total body health and raise support for St. Jude Heroes. To help you join our cause, we’re rolling out a partnership and promotion with Nashville Running Company to give current and potential Downtown Dental 200 reasons to join in on staying healthy! Screen shot 2013-02-12 at 10.35.49 AM To help Nashville residents stay healthy from head to toe, we’re partnering with Nashville Running Company to offer 15% OFF and the opportunity to win an exclusive $200 gift card to anyone who schedules a new patient appointment or refers a friend to Downtown Dental from now until the end of April! Whether you’re one of the 30,000 people training for the Country Music Marathon or Half Marathon or you’re just looking to stay active during the winter months, investing in good running or walking shoes is important. However, most of us aren’t racing to buy new running shoes, even if we are preparing for a race. This is the perfect excuse to give us a call whether you’re a businessman who works downtown looking to beat your personal record for the half marathon or you just moved downtown and are looking for a new dentist. How can you tell what Country Music Marathon finishers are Downtown Dental patients? There are a couple of ways: 1) They’re part of Downtown Dental’s St. Jude Heroes Team! 2) They’ll be the ones with the fresh new kicks and white smiles in the pictures at the finish line…

MCM

Whether you’re running in the Country Music Marathon or not, we hope you’ll join us as we continue to promote healthy living from head to toe and support St. Jude’s and support our St. Jude Heroes T as we raise support for St. Jude's lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children. New patients can click here, call 615.254.1393, or email us to schedule your appointment today. Current patients can receive the exclusive discount when their referral mentions their name while scheduling their appointment. Are you running the Country Music Marathon or Half Marathon? If so, leave us a comment below!
Last month we shared how to proper dental hygiene can improve your overall health and wellbeing. This idea of total body health has helped our team to set goals and work alongside our patients in staying healthy from head to toe.

MCM

As a way to commit to total body health in 2013, our team has decided to run the St. Jude Country Music Half Marathon this April. In the past, we’ve enjoyed watching marathoners and half-marathoners run by our offices as they head down the home stretch of their runs. If you’ve never cheered on runners for the Country Music Marathon, it’s quite the spectacle. But this year, we thought, “What better way to stay healthy from head to toe than by running it ourselves?” What started out as an idea turned into reality after we did a little more research… As we were checking out the details, we learned that giving back is a big part of the Country Music Half Marathon. The Country Music Marathon has partnered with St. Jude’s to allow participants to create St. Jude Heroes Teams as a way to improve the treatment of childhood cancer and other deadly diseases through its groundbreaking research. After working alongside patients and downtown residents to collect over 1,000 canned goods for Second Harvest Food Bank at the end of 2012, we realized that registering our team was a no brainer! St. Jude Along with our goal of running the half marathon, we’re launching a Downtown Dental Heroes Team to raise funds to support St. Jude's lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children.   Join us in giving back and staying healthy from head to toe... We we’re so grateful for our friends and patients supporting Second Harvest Food Bank back in November and December. Because you love to help others as much as we do, we thought that this was the perfect opportunity to combine staying healthy with giving back. We hope you’ll join us in training, running and raising money for the St. Jude's children's hospital. By joining the Downtown Dental Team, we can work together to raise thousands of dollars to help children in need, all while staying healthy and having fun along the way! CMM 2
This past month, Downtown Dental teamed with Dr. Damon Barbieri of Barbieri Orthodontics and approximately 20 other businesses in a joint effort to provide food for our Middle Tennessee community through Second Harvest Food Bank. Giving Back this Holiday Season with Second Harvest According to Second Harvest, there are 103,000 people in Davidson County who classify as food insecure*. While this number can seem overwhelming at first, organizations like Second Harvest are working hard to decrease the number of families who suffer from food insecurity every year. After learning the impact that Second Harvest is making in our community, we jumped on board to help!

How you helped:

For 30 days, Downtown Dental collected items for Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Here are a few numbers that speak to the impact you made:

3,800

The total amount of food items collected through a united effort of local companies

1,074

The number of food items collected from Downtown Dental patients and other downtown residents and businesses.

25%

The percentage of the total amount of food collected by Downtown Dental

If you’d like to see complete numbers and participating offices, click here.  Thank you x 1,074! Our staff was literally tripping over food items in the office. We were overwhelmed by the compassion you showed for our local community and we are so grateful for everyone who helped collect food for those in need. We’re truly inspired by your generosity. Because of you, families and individuals will be taken care of this season. We appreciate all of the kindness shown this year! If you’d like to learn more about Second Harvest and how you can help, visit http://secondharvestmidtn.org/. There are dozens charitable organizations in the Nashville area you can help to give a “hand up” to those in need. We plan to continue our philanthropic efforts throughout the year and hope you all join us again for our future campaigns!
